The non-clinical and clinical pharmacological studies for MEBO® Wound Ointment (MEBO) contained in this website have been conducted independently from Skingenix, Inc. The scientific findings concerning the drug have been included mainly for the sole purpose of scientific information exchange and is not intended for marketing or promotional uses. This botanical drug MEBO has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for any indication of use in the United States. It is currently under the status of Investigational New Drug (Phase II) for patients with burn injuries, venous stasis ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.

MEBO, a US patented botanical ointment has been approved and marketed in China since 1988. Currently, this drug product is also marketed in 24 countries worldwide.  

Non-clinical pharmacological study results indicate that MEBO may have the following therapeutic properties:

  • Maintain wound in a physiological moist environment
  • Promote wound healing
  • Enhance quality of healing
  • Anti-shock in extensive burns
  • Improve wound microcirculation in the zone of stasis in the early stages after burns
  • Protect wound from potential infection
