Regenerative medicine and therapy is an innovative concept described through a new research field and represents a unique approach towards the goal of regenerating functional tissues and organs. The term ¡°regeneration¡± implies that the human body can possibly be stimulated to regenerate by itself through the use of its own potential but this stimulation requires both appropriate trigger or promotion factor as well as an appropriate physiological environment.
One of our core products, MEBO® Wound Ointment (MEBO), a botanical drug product consisting of seven natural ingredients which are traditional Chinese medicinal ingredients with a long history of human use is manufactured by extraction of these materials then solidified to its final dosage form. Preliminary non-clinical and clinical study results indicate that MEBO may promote regenerative cells to heal the wounds.
Manufactured from seven traditional Chinese medicinal ingredients, MEBO is a US patented botanical ointment product for treating burns, wounds and ulcers. MEBO is first approved and marketed in China in 1988. Through 2009, MEBO has been approved and marketed in twenty-four countries worldwide. During the past twenty years, several controlled clinical trials have been conducted, and thousands of clinical observations and reports have been published. In the late of 1980s, Moist Exposed Burn Treatment (MEBT) was first practiced by Dr. Rong Xiang Xu in China. Based on proven safety and efficacy obtained from extensive clinical uses, MEBO was officially approved for commercial use as burn treatment medication in 1988. MEBO has become a standard of care for burns in China. The clinical data presented MEBO¡¯s profile of previous human use experiences. The majority of these clinical studies are investigator initiated academic researches. Some of other reports are non-controlled clinical observations or retrospective clinical data. The Skingenix¡¯s development plan in the US is designed to confirm MEBO¡¯s therapeutic properties and safety profile by well-controlled, multi-center clinical trials.
